The Succubus

Her sweet candy scent wafted through the air, threatening to send me back in time, to when I actually had a heart. She giggled, twirling a strand of her curly hair around her finger. "Senna," she called softly.

Time came to a standstill. The woman I used to love held out her hand and a bubble formed there, bright and blue and bewitching. I couldn't tear my eyes away. It sparkled as ice coated over it and she launched it right at Angela and Gabriel.

"No!" I grabbed them with my powers, throwing them to the other side a bit too forcefully. Gabriel shifted and grabbed her in his arms, letting himself hit the wall back first. Plaster rained down on them and Gabriel grunted from the impact. I couldn't control myself. My hand shook.

Jamie giggled. "Why are you trying to protect her? You know who she belongs to." She held out her hand to me, taking several steps closer. "Come on, we can be together now. Nothing will get in our way. Not your pack, not your family, nothing. It will be just us, like you always wanted."

I couldn't tear my eyes off of her crystal blues.

Wait, blue? Something buzzed at the back of my mind, but the longer I looked into her eyes, the harder it was to look away.

My heart raced, and my palms sweat. It took everything in me not to collapse to my knees in front of her.

I still wanted her.

All I had to do was close my eyes, and I'd remember her soft touch on my cheeks, her breath on my lips, the taste of her. I swallowed hard. I couldn't focus on any of the things she'd done after that. Only the good replayed in my mind like some sick joke.

Jamie cupped my cheek with her palm, sliding her arm around me and nuzzling my nose. "Senna, you don't have to fight anymore. Come with me. Give up the girl. We can be happy." Reaching down, her slim hand slid down my pants to grab my half-hard erection. "We can have fun, and I can give you the family you always wanted."

I groaned. Her fingers flexed around me. Her eyes had an almost crimson sparkle to them. She licked her lips, grabbing me tighter. "Jamie," I choked her name out. Why was I fighting this?

"Cato, if you give in to that succubus, I'm going to kick your motherfucking ass," Gabriel snarled through my mind.

Succubus? No, Jamie was a human. I blinked hard, pulling away from her touch. That crimson glint grew stronger. "You're not Jamie, are you?" I demanded, steel edging into my voice. That's right. My brothers had killed her in front of me.

Jamie threw her head back and laughed. "That's not any fun! How did you figure it out? I thought I was playing her very well. Maybe a bit too care-free, but it has been ages since you've seen her. I suppose it doesn't matter." The blond faded from her hair, turning into bright bubblegum pink, and her eyes turned a deep crimson.
